Automate messages and offers on Vinted

Turn buyer Favorites into thoughtful offers with a short message, a sensible discount ladder, and clear limits on automation.

A Favorite is a useful sign of interest, but it is not a sale. The member has chosen to keep an eye on an Item, so a helpful offer can move the conversation forward without waiting for you to notice every new Favorite. This guide covers what to say, how to price the next step, and where automation should stop.

Treat a Favorite as a warm lead

A member who favorites an Item has done more than scroll past it. They have saved a specific piece at its current price, which gives you a reason to make one relevant proposal. They may still be comparing similar Items, waiting for payday, or hoping the price changes. None of those possibilities calls for pressure.

Use the Favorite as permission to make one clear offer about that Item. Do not treat it as permission to send unrelated listings, repeated reminders, or a request to move the conversation off Vinted. Your goal is to reduce the distance between interest and a decision while leaving the member room to decline.

Write a useful first message

A first message should be short enough to read on a phone and specific enough to sound like it belongs to the Item. Mention the Item, state the offer, and close without demanding an answer. For example:

Hi {member}, thanks for favoriting {item}. I can offer it for {price}, saving you {discount}. Let me know if you have a question.

If you write your own version, keep these habits:

  • Lead with thanks rather than urgency.
  • Name the Item or its relevant detail when that helps the member recognize it.
  • State the actual price or saving, not a vague promise.
  • Invite a question instead of asking why the member has not bought.
  • Keep contact and payment on Vinted.

Build a discount ladder

A discount ladder gives you a consistent answer when an Item attracts attention but does not sell. Start with a small reduction that protects your margin, then make a larger reduction only when the Item has earned it through time or weak response. The exact percentages depend on your cost and category, but the order can stay simple:

  1. Start near your target price when the Item is newly listed and already competitive.
  2. Offer a modest reduction to a new Favorite, such as 5–10 percent.
  3. Review the Item after several days with views but no sale; lower the public price or make the next offer only if the margin still works.
  4. Move to a stronger reduction for an older Item, a seasonal piece, or stock you need to clear.
  5. Stop when the net amount no longer covers your cost, packing, fees, and the time required to fulfill the sale.

Know where automation helps

Automation is useful for a repeatable, low-risk action: noticing a new Favorite and sending one offer with rules you have already reviewed. It is less suitable for judging stains, answering unusual questions, resolving a bundle, or deciding whether a difficult buyer is trustworthy. Keep those decisions personal.

Automation also needs a boundary around frequency. Repeating the same message after every Favorite reads as spam, especially when the message contains unrelated sales language. A per-member, per-Item limit is more respectful than a broad campaign. Review your rules when your prices, stock, or selling goals change.

Set an Auto Offer Rule

Thriftly's Auto Offers feature uses an Auto Offer Rule attached to one Item. When a Vinted member favorites that Item, the Rule can send one price proposal to that member for that Item. The Rule supports a percentage discount, a fixed discount, or a fixed final price, and calculates the result from the Item's live Vinted price when it sends.

You choose a delay after the Favorite, one daily sending window with a timezone, and an Offer Eligibility Window. If no matching Vinted Session is open, the offer waits silently while it remains eligible. A Rule does not create a second offer when a member unfavorites and favorites the same Item again. A Likeback Favorite and an ordinary Favorite exchanged between current Likeback participants are excluded from Favorite-triggered Thriftly automation.

An Offer Message is optional and always uses your words. Thriftly does not generate or rewrite it. The supported variables are {member}, {item}, {discount}, {price}, and {original_price}. Messages cannot contain links, phone numbers, email addresses, off-platform contact details, markup, unknown variables, or more than 500 characters. If the message cannot be filled safely, the offer can be sent without the greeting; the price proposal is not sacrificed.

Create Rules from the Item's menu in the Wardrobe, then review their price, timing, and eligibility before relying on them. Auto Offers also depends on Vinted sending the required Favorite, message, feedback, and all-account notification emails. If those settings are off, Favorites may not be discovered.

Use LikeBack for a different purpose

LikeBack is not a message campaign and it does not send offers. It is an optional exchange of real Vinted Favorites between participating sellers on the same Vinted domain. You opt in for the connected seller, and an open Vinted tab signed in as that seller performs the work.

LikeBack can increase the number of genuine Favorite actions your Items receive, but those Favorites are promotional engagement rather than proof of buyer intent. Thriftly withholds them from Auto Offers and other Favorite-triggered automation. Vinted still includes them in its aggregate Favorite count, so do not use that count alone to judge demand.

Questions

Can I send a message without an offer?

An Auto Offer Rule's Offer Message is sent immediately before that Rule's price proposal. The message is optional, but the Rule is built around the one-time offer rather than a standalone message campaign.

Does every Favorite receive an offer?

No. A Favorite must be discovered through the connected Vinted notification setup, remain inside the Rule's eligibility window, and meet the Rule's pricing and session requirements. Likeback-related Favorites are excluded, and each member-Item pair receives at most one Auto Offer.

Can LikeBack Favorites trigger Auto Offers?

No. Likeback Favorites and Favorites exchanged between current Likeback participants are withheld from Favorite-triggered Thriftly automation. They remain part of Vinted's aggregate Favorite count.
